WS-CRDS for Monitoring Process Impurities

Certain process streams are prone to trace contamination from specific trace gases that can negatively impact the value and/or utility of the intermediate or final product. A typical example is ammonia (NH3) contamination in ethylene (C2H2). These process stream applications need a trace gas monitor that can work continuously and alert the system controller immediately in response to even trace levels of impurity. This minimizes waste product and enables the source to be identified and corrected within a minimal timeframe. Picarro WS-CRDS analyzers are used in these applications because of their high-speed (seconds) performance, chemical specificity and ppbv sensitivity. In addition, they are small, rugged instruments with no moving parts that can be operated remotely in compact, remote and inaccessible on-line locations. Plus they can operate in a harsh variable environment for months or longer without requiring recalibration.
