Ethylene (C2H4) is an organic gas associated with natural gas products. It is also a plant hormone closely involved with the regulation of fruit and flower ripening. In order to maximize profit and minimize spoilage loss, producers and shippers of fruits such as bananas and tomatoes need to measure and regulate the ethylene concentration during holding and trans-shipment. This presents a need for a rugged, simple to use and yet sensitive analyzer to monitor trace levels of ethylene in real time. The G1106 meets this need as the only portable, hands-free analyzer that delivers parts per billion sensitivity in air with no crosstalk between ambient species including H2O or CO2. Other sensitive instruments are limited to laboratory use with captured samples. And low-sensitivity portable devices often need a method of pre-treating the air to remove moisture.
The G1106 ethylene analyzer also includes an Ethernet port enabling remote continuous monitoring of ethylene concentration. It can operate unattended for several months without any need for re-calibration.
